Lily Flower Brooch with Freshwater Pearls

The lily has been a recurring motif in decorative art for centuries, not because it is simple, but because it is not. Each petal curves away from the centre in its own direction, the whole thing held together by a logic that looks effortless and isn't.

This freshwater pearl lily brooch renders that logic in gold-plated brass, each petal textured to catch light across its surface, real freshwater pearls set at the centre where the stamens would be. The horizontal form sits naturally on a lapel, the curve of the flower following the line of a collar or the edge of a scarf.
